Picture Postcard - Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace, London.

Crystal Palace was designed and built for the Great Exhibition of 1851.   On display at this exhibition were various 'writing machines' and 'typewriters'.   Some of the inventors - Foucault, Hughes and Marchesi - received medals for their machines whilst others, like Tollputt, failed to gain an award.
