Lady
Typewriter, a pioneering web site representing collectors of antique
typewriters in Great Britain. On this site you will find information about
antique typewriters and my virtual museum of related items categorised in
many sections such as "Typewriter News", "Typewriter Timeline", "Virtual
Museum" and "Virtual Library". It was commenced in 1997 and believed to be
the first antique typewriter related virtual museum and virtual library on
the web.
My interest in antique typewriters began, when I purchased a word
processor (electronic typewriter) in the early 1980's. Typing was certainly different on
these "new" machines when I compared them to the ones I used in the 50's and
60's. I wondered what the antique typewriters were like in the early 1900's? Or at the
turn of the century? When they were invented? How had these antique machines changed? I
was hooked on collecting, and the more I found out, the more interested I became.
The information I gathered could easily have formed a section in a
museum. To make it more accessible I decided to create a virtual museum with my
information.
I hope you enjoy your virtual tour of my site on antique typewriters.
You can access the sections by following the links at the top of the page. As the virtual
museum and virtual library are of particular interest to most visitors, the table below
may help you quickly find the items you're looking for.
